Why Going Pro on Flickr is Worth It

Comments

TreesA lot of you are using Flickr. I actually know this for a fact because of the great feedback I had on the post Flickr Fun. With 79 reactions its currently the most popular post here on Go Holga. Thank you all for your feedback its been wonderful to increase everyone's contact list, I'm sure you will agree!

Ok so back to the point of the post, your thinking of going pro on Flickr, but you don't know if its a good idea, or if you are going to use it enough.

Let me assure you, that from my experience its been fantastic. I will now proceed to outline why I think its worth the money.

1. You get more uploads

The first great thing about going pro on Flickr is that you get more space for uploading photos and videos. If you don't upgrade Flickr start deleting your oldest photos to make room for the new ones.

2. You Get Statistics

Secondly, going pro on Flickr means that you get statistics on all your individual photos and on your account. Its an awesome way to see what's popular and what work is getting recognised. Its also a good way to keep track of your progress and see how you popularity is increasing.

3. You are somebody

I don't know if anyone else gets this impression, but when I see a name on Flickr with pro below it, I immediately take them a little more seriously. I think its because they've made a commitment to photography and I know they have the passion. If you are serious about your photography then you definitely need to upgrade and go pro. Its good for the image it seems...

4. Its reliable

Flickr is a really reliable host, and I've (fingers crossed) not had any problem with their image hosting service as yet. Going pro will mean all your gorgeous images are hosted on a reliable server.

5. You're In a Community

Being Pro means that you are immediately an integral part of a photo community that is continuously growing. If you don't have the storage space to continuously share your images they will quickly be forgotten. Take action and go pro!

6. More Sets Are Allowed

When you go pro you get more ways to organise your photos. Sets are the first thing you will notice that you get more of, and these are really great for organising everything into the categories you want. You only get three if you are not pro.

7. It Feeds Your Passion

Going Pro has certainly encouraged me to get uploading, and I'm sure it will have the same effect for you. I've been digging out all my old negatives and photos since I went Pro.

If you want to ask any questions about going Pro on Flickr then please leave a comment and I will gladly answer it for you.
