From my experience with the Holga camera, the more bold the statement you make with the photo the more celebrated it will inevitably become. OK so the following piece of advice is quite opinion based but give it a read and see what you think.
Take a look at the following picture on the right for the the first example.Ok the photograph does have a subject but it seems a little lost in the middle of all its surroundings, and due to the narrow nature of the Holga lens and the 120 format, this shot just doesn't really seem to be working out that amazingly.
Sure its an ok picture but its lacking lust and passion...in fact its just completely lacking in balls!
Now lets take a look at the next example on the left. Generally speaking this is probably just a better all round photograph, but please try and focus on the composition and not the colours and hues. The Holga has really come into its element here, because the square format has framed the subject well, and therefore made a much bolder picture. You can tell just by the fact that your eye is automatically drawn to this picture when you look at this post. Its more dramatic!
Think about this as you experiment with different methods of shooting with your Holga camera.
Think about how you can make your shots more dramatic and exciting by placing the subject right in the frame.
In my opinion, the second shot works much better than the first, just because the subject has more strength and dominates the frame.
